Everything You Need To Know About Love

March 19, 2018 By Marina Benkhina 1 Comment

Two bear in love!

Spring is coming! This is my favorite season. I love the color of fresh grass, the blossoming trees, tulips, new life, new possibilities and hope for change! Spring and love! Statistically, spring is the best time to fall in love and date.  Are you ready? Why do some people fall in love easily while some have struggles?

Falling in love means to begin to feel romantic love for someone or to be very attracted to someone. These are wonderful things. They are so many books, poems, novels, songs and movies about love. I’m not sure it’s possible to say something new!

How do people fall in love?

You meet someone and feel chemistry, a connection, and you are a good match. Your partner feels the same. You two are falling in love with each other and a wonderful journey begins! Love, chemistry, excitement, adventures and disappointment sometimes. Falling in love could be a beginning for a beautiful relationship.

What are the chemicals associated with falling in love?

“Dopamine creates feeling of euphoria, adrenaline and norepinephrine are responsible for pitter-pattern of the heart, restlessness and preoccupation that goes along with experiencing love. MRI scans indicate that love lights up the pleasure center of the brain”.- ScienceDaily

That’s why love can be like a drug!

Do I fall in love too easily?

Some people are addicted to the idea of love. How can you tell if that’s you?

You fall in love constantly, often without signs from the other person.   You don’t always know if the other person is interested or even available. You are crushed when the relationship doesn’t work out, but you fall in love all over again right away.

Why I can’t fall in love?

On the opposite end of the spectrum are people who won’t allow themselves to fall in love. There are a number of reasons that people close themselves off from the possibility of falling in love:

  • To avoid emotional pain
  • To avoid rejection
  • Fear of losing control
  • Extremely high standards

When you close yourself off from the possibility of the pain that comes from love, you’re also closing yourself off to one of life’s greatest joys.

Nothing is wrong with you. You’re not alone. Go for it, open your heart and mind and let go of your worries and doubts.

Whether you fall in love too easily or can’t fall in love, if you need help and want to make a change, make an appointment with a therapist who can help you break your patterns.

Marina Benkhina, LMFTHelping children and adults improve their relationships, deal more effectively with emotions, and create their life's desire has been a passion of mine for years.

While I draw on and incorporate mindfulness techniques, humanistic-existential models, art and process models, emotional focused therapy, and attachment theory, the most important determinant for successful therapy is the relationship you develop with your therapist.

As such, I invite you to contact me for more information about my services, how I can help you, and whether or not we'd be a good fit to work together!
