It is almost impossible to not experience anxiety at some point or other in our stressful and hectic lives. Careers, traffic, financial responsibility, health problems, school, housing, and many other factors can contribute to our stress and anxiety.
Symptoms of anxiety can include:
- Obtrusive, obsessive, worried thoughts;
- Confusion and difficulty concentrating;
- Pacing or restlessness;
- Muscle tension;
- Trembling, sweating, or a racing heartbeat;
- Nausea;
- Difficulty breathing;
- Frequent headaches or feeling light-headed;
- Insomnia;
- Digestive problems;
- Irritability;
- Frustration; or
- Despair.
And you needn’t be experiencing most or all of these symptoms to be suffering from anxiety. Even just having three or more of these symptoms may indicate you have an anxiety-related issue.
Do you feel anxiety interfering with your sleeping patterns, eating habits, day-to-day functioning, work or school activities, and/or your relationship with significant others? Do you experience tension in your body, pressure in your chest, seemingly irrational worries or intrusive thoughts, or routine irritability or frustration?
If so, you anxiety counseling and treatment can help!
Professional counseling and psychotherapy can significantly reduce or eliminate symptoms of anxiety in a relatively short period of time, especially if you are able to identify the cause of your anxiety…
For example, young adults often struggle with anxiety related to academic achievements, peer and parental pressure, self-esteem, friends and social life, testing, college choices, and relationships.
Adults, on the other hand, often experience anxiety related to their careers, parenting, relationships, health, and around the meaning and purpose of their lives.
In my work, I help clients explore the underlying causes for their anxieties and fears, as well as provide anxiety-reduction techniques – such as mindfulness practices, breathing exercises, and increased self-awareness and self-care – so clients can learn to relax, gain some semblance of control, and begin moving forward in their lives with confidence and optimism.
In short, the counseling and psychotherapy services I provide can help give you the tools you need to overcome anxiety, as well as teach you how to use them.
